Overview
A leading organization in the mining/resources sector is seeking a Project Governance & Readiness Manager to lead and institutionalize project governance across a major portfolio of capital projects. This role acts as the custodian of governance frameworks, ensuring robust stage-gate compliance, investment assurance, and execution readiness prior to project advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain end-to-end project governance frameworks, including stage-gate processes, RACI structures, and decision criteria
- Lead stage-gate documentation, compliance, and audit processes across all project phases (Gate 0–5)
- Drive execution readiness assessments (Gate 3 to Gate 4), ensuring projects meet technical, commercial, regulatory, and operational requirements
- Conduct governance audits and assurance reviews, identifying gaps and enforcing corrective actions
- Provide portfolio-level insights to leadership to support investment decisions and prioritization
- Act as a gatekeeper for capital investment decisions, ensuring only fully compliant and ready projects proceed
- Manage post-implementation reviews (PIR) and institutionalize lessons learned across the project lifecycle
Requirements
- Proven experience in project governance, project controls, or PMO leadership within large-scale capital projects (mining, oil & gas, infrastructure, or similar)
- Strong expertise in stage-gate frameworks, risk management, and investment assurance
- Demonstrated ability to lead audit, compliance, and readiness assessments
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and investment committees
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline (advanced certifications preferred)
